2025 RESIDENTS FORWARD YOUTH CLIMATE SUMMIT STUDENT REGISTRATION
OPEN TO STUDENTS IN GRADES 8-12

Workshop Descriptions:

Circular FashionMake Second Hand Second Nature
Students will learn the importance of replacing the current linear fashion model with a circular one that aims to reduce waste and extend the life of clothing. Did you know that there is enough clothing currently in circulation for the next six generations! The linear model promotes mass production and consumption of clothing made from fossil fuel based materials that are not designed to be reused or recycled. We will explore the negative impacts of these textiles as many end up in landfills or incinerators.   The circular model is more sustainable as it promotes a closed loop where eco-friendly materials are cycled, mended or altered.   Educators, local leaders and small business owners will help explain these issues and discuss ways we can repair, remake, thrift and rehome.

WaterVision: Creating a Resilient Future for Our Drinking Water
Explore the critical role of local drinking water in our community’s sustainability. This workshop will delve into pressing challenges, such as pollution and overuse, while presenting actionable solutions like conservation strategies, sustainable landscaping, green infrastructure, water reuse, native planting, and rewilding.

Innovations in Waste Reduction: Less Waste, More Impact
This session will cover the current state of waste management following the journey that waste takes from the moment it leaves the curbside. We will explore innovations in residential and food waste management and teach those attending about how they can reduce their personal waste.
