Climate Awareness Garden Workshops

The Climate Awareness Garden project is a hands-on environmental education effort designed to raise awareness and understanding of the connection between food and climate through development and maintenance of a square foot garden.  The key themes of the project are the positive impact eating locally, eating a plant-based diet, and wasting less food can have on our climate by reducing pollution. What is a Green Team Leader? Someone who cares about protecting planet Earth. You want to help the plants, animals and people that live here. What does it mean to Get Your Green On? Green Team Leaders take what they learn about being green and protecting our earth, and get loud about it! They share facts and tips with friends, family, teachers and anyone who will listen. They speak up! How do I become a Green Team Leader? It’s easy! Make a promise to get loud about something that will help our planet. 2020 Youth Climate Summit

Residents Forward is organizing their second Youth Climate Summit on Long Island to cultivate the next generation of environmental leaders. The Summit is open to 100 students grades 8-12. While the Summit is free to students, each seat has a $200 value which has been generously paid for by our sponsors. (Click here to sponsor the Youth Climate Summit). In return, students are asked to give ten hours of volunteer work towards a group Climate Action Project within a year’s time. Click here to fill out an application.
